Bishops Name Chaplain For Block Rosary In Nigeria

The following message was received by Block Rosary of Nigeria from the Bishops office of the archdiocese of

  Benin: " The Nigerian Episcopate has appointed a National Chaplain for the Block Rosary Crusade Council of Nigeria (BRCCN), A letter addressed to the national president of BRCCN, Augustine Imoh, and signed by Rev. Fr. George Ehusani Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, states that the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Nigeria, at it’s last conference in Abuja, approved of the accreditation of the Block Rosary Crusade of Nigeria.

Consequently, Rev. Fr. Adulphus Umechukwu of the Benin Archdiocese has been appointed as the First National Chaplain for a three-year term, renewable once.

Fr. Umechukwu is a product of the Block Rosary Crusade from the Archdiocese of Benin. We wish him a successful tenure of office."

Block Rosary National Congress Planned In Lagos, August 19

More than 100,000 members of Block Rosary Units in Nigeria are expected to join together in Lagos on August 19 to participate in the 3rd National Congress for Block Rosary in that country.

His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Okegie, archbishop of Lagos is the chief host. He will be joined by Rev Father Adulphus Umechukwu, National Chaplain and Rev. Father Joachim Ochibiri, Lagos Archdiocesen Chaplain who will be the host for the conference.

The theme this year is: "Behold The Handmaid of The Lord", and the sub theme is "Mary, the Co-Redeemer".

A variety of speakers will tell the story of the Rosary and the work of Block Rosary in Nigeria. Two bishops and two priests from the diocese in Nigeria will speak at the conference, including the Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Otteh, Bishop Emeritus of Isele-Uku Diocese, Most Rev Dr. Albert A. Fasina, Bishop of Ijebu-Ode Diocese, Rev. Fr. Anthony Igweagu of the Onitsha Archdiocese and Rev. Fr. Justine Udoma, of the Uyo Diocese will join their hosts and colleagues on the speakers stand.

Officers of the National Crusade will participate in the program, which will be held at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex in Lagos.
